Ultrasonic cleaning has been used to keep hospitals clean, but is now being used for the office. (1-15-08)
Everyday office workers are not aware of how much bacteria accumulates in the office and office desktops, Xeroxes, printers, and mice. The old way to clean these areas would be to grab a piece of cloth, some soap, and water and to start scrubbing. But now the ultra sonic cleaning method can be used to clean office supplies and machines.
The ultra sonic cleaning method works by “transmitting ultra-high frequency sound through heated tap water, which contains special detergents.”
This would cause microscopic bubble to form in every crevice of the submersed piece of equipment, known as cavitation. The bubbles collapse almost immediately and these thousands of implosions per second result in the deep-cleaning action. Article from BBC News UK
