Why spring cleaning?
Have you ever pondered why is it that we turn our house upside down for a thorough house cleaning at this period of time and where the name “Spring Cleaning” comes from? Well after doing some research I learned that it is termed “spring cleaning” because traditionally during winter season homes were heated by coal furnaces and woods. This brought unwanted soot and ash on walls, furniture and fabrics. After the winter season people had no option but to thoroughly clean the house to enjoy the months of fair weather.
Today most houses’ heating system doesn’t leave behind soot or ash on walls and doesn’t necessarily require a thorough cleaning of the house. But since we have come accustomed to the idea of performing a detailed house cleaning at this time, it is not a bad idea to continue the habit. This is in no way a call for the end of spring cleaning.
Thorough house cleaning at the end of the winter season is a good idea because it will;
1.
Rid your house of indoor allergens caused by dust mites, molds, pets, and cockroaches.
2.
Clearing Clutter and Organizing
3. Find damages/repair areas to your house
